To find lineal footage, divide by 0.666

E.g. 1000 square feet of coverage would be 1230 fbm, and 1845'

If you are using a 1x10 profile; take your square footage; multiply by 1.1 to get board footage.

To find lineal footage, divide by 0.833

E.g. 1000 square feet of coverage would be 1100 fbm, and 1320'

If you are using a 1x4 profile; take your square footage; multiply by 1.45 to get board footage.

To find lineal footage, divide by 0.3334

E.g. 1000 square feet of coverage would be 1450 fbm, and 4350'

Trex Q & A

Does Trex require gapping?

Yes. Trex is half plastic, half wood, and therefore expands and contracts under different temperatures. Gapping is also important to allow water run-off. For width to width gap, 1/4" is required. For cold weather installations, 3/8" is recommended.

For end to end gap allow 1/16" for every 20°F difference between installation temperature and the highest temperature expected during the year.

What is Trex made from?

Trex is a composite of reclaimed and recycled wood, and low-polyethylene plastic such as that found in grocery bags. It is heated, moulded and extruded.

Is Trex structural?

No. Because of its properties, Trex is intended solely for decking and railing. Do not use Trex for posts, beams, stringers or joists.

For more information, please visit the Trex Decking website.
